Location:The Santanyí region borders the municipalities of Campos, Ses Salines and Felanix. The municipality includes a 35-kilometer-long coastal strip to which also includes the Cap ses Salines, which marks the most southern point of the island. The municipality includes the towns of Santanyí (city), Alqueria Blanca, Cala Santanyí, Calonge, Llombards, Cala Llombards, Son Moja, Cala Figuera, Portopetro, Cala d`Or and Cap des Moro. The name Santanyí probably comes from the Latin Sanctus Agnus ("Holy Lamb"). The lamb is still found today in the coat of arms of the community.
Since there is no major industry in the municipality of Santanyí and bed restraints have largely been dispensed with, the region is characterized above all by its originality and naturalness. Just one example of the perfectly preserved nature is the Mondrago Natural Park. Also the climatic conditions are perfect. Santanyí belongs to one of the driest regions of Mallorca.
